Copic Coloring, the practice sheet - Flip Flops

AKA "Slippahs" here in Hawai'i. I need to post it separately so that I can link it to class. Two of them should look 'used' since I colored the toes and feet into the bottoms.

Thank you for coming by - loves you lots!!!

Copic Class Day 1, Practicing Shading

Hi there friends,

How are you doing today? I signed up for Copic Coloring Class online. Today we are practicing shading with two or three colors of a color group. I tried coloring most of the balloons with a transparent kind of appearance. It was fun, took me most of the day, and I added Signo White Gel Pen as little decorative accents, and Wink of Stella Clear all over some of the balloons or package parts. I'm worn plum out LOL.

Thank you for looking :*

Grateful

Here is another CAS card. The bird is I don't know what, but I colored it with some Prismacolor Pencils with Perfect Pearls Blue and Green over that.

Mahalo for stopping by and taking a look ♥

Keeping it CAS

This is very challenging for me to do. If I don't use a layer and embellishments, I feel totally naked!

StampTV has a challenge this week (STV14MON37) for CAS cards. Here are a few I put together:

"End of Summer" Thinking of You is a watercolor on Strathmore 140# paper. I sprinkled Rock Salt and let it dry overnight. I also covered the petals and cone of seeds in the centers with Crystal Lacquer, as well as a few drops on the leaves to look like it just rained.
Stamp Set "Heartfelt" and "Vertical Greetings 2" by Gina K. Designs

This next card is a simple little penguin gliding along the ice. He is colored with Memento Markers. he has some White Flower Soft on his earmuffs and Crystal Lacquer on his nose, eyes, along the ice and skate blades.
Stamp set "Penguin Joy" and "Assorted Greetings by Gina K. Designs

The third card is stamped on yellow cardstock with Memento Gray, and colored with Prismacolor Pencils, blended with Gamsol.
Stamp Sets: "Elegant Florals" and "Aloha" by Gina K. Designs

I'm sorry the picture is fuzzy and spotty - I couldn't get the camera to focus that well today.

Thank you for looking at all the CAS cards for today!

An Oval Sea

Hi friends. Hoping your day has been good, and if not, let's hope for a better tomorrow.

This is a Three-Paged Card! It has a sea view through an oval aperture window. The third page has the sentiment and room for message. This is the tenth of ten cards to give to the doctor who will get these to the shop who sells them for me. We give them 10 at a time, and they've been patiently waiting for months for this group of ten.

Recipe:

Stamp set Aloha by Theresa Momber for Gina K. Designs
Cardstock 120# white by GKD; Blue shimmer paper that was on sale and not in original pkg; Neenah     Solar White for the sponged ocean scene.
Light Lime half backed pearls by Kaiser Craft
Spellbinder dies: Petite Ovals, Opulent Ovals (embossed the blue layer with this)
Fiskars corner punch/embosser
Memory Box turtle die (covered w/Versamark and then heat embossed 2-3 coats UTEE)
Martha Stewart score board (scored around the scenery)
Gold cord bow by GKD
Inks Gkd and Memento, Versamark, Delicatta Gold
Masking tape (masked the ocean horizon)
Wink of Stella clear (on ocean)
Scor Tape (for adhering the second page only to the top end of the third page of the card, and for attached the sponged scene onto GKD cardstock)
Glue dots (to hold turtle on), Monoadhesive (to adhere blue layer to front), Aileene's Clear Tacky Glue (also holds the turtle on, as well as behind the lime pearls for extra hold)
White gel pen (Signo) to draw on the waves
Black #2 micron pen to draw on the birds

I used mini sponge daubers to sponge the scene with Memento inks, using a piece of masking tape to create the horizon line.

The turtle was die cut, sponged with colors of green, touched up with Gliteratta Gold ink for sparkle, then Versamarked both sides, and heat embossed with 2 or 3 coats of UTEE. It's how I make charms for cards :D

The Opulent Oval was used as an embossing plate of sorts through the Big Shot.

Below is Page 2, adhered to the top of the back page with Scor Tape, scored to create the
EZ fold up crease. Can you see the sparkles from Wink of Stella clear on the ocean?

And finally, the 3rd and last page of this card. The envelope matches this third page.

Thank you sweet friends, for stopping by and checking out this latest card ♥

A Sunflower Hello

Aloha again,

This is a card for a friend for no particular reason than I thank her for making me laugh. I treasure friends who make me laugh, don't you?

If you know who makes this stamp, I would appreciate it if you would let me know. I think it might be Stampin' Up but I bought it used and the lady did not know.

I colored the sunflower with Koh-I-Noor color pencils, and used Gamsol to blend. The background is watercolor.

Other Stamp Sets: Stampin' Up Fresh Cuts (sentiment); Folk Filigree by GKD.
Cardstock GKD Pure Luxury 120# white, Bazzill sienna and Neenah Solar White. I colored and painted on the Neenah - surprisingly didn't buckle.
Ink- Stampin' Up Coastal Cabana, and some sequins, Word Punch and popped up the sentiment.

Thank you very much for stopping by!

Overlapping Circles

This is a stamp by Hero Arts called Overlapping Circles. Sharri Carrol on Day 5 of Watercolor Class gave me this idea. While she did one corner of this image with distress markers, and she did not overlap the colors, it did inspire me to change it up a bit and do the entire image. It took me about 4 hours over the course of 3 days to color this with Copic Markers. I used about 3-4 colors in each color group for each circle, trying to blend all four sides of every circle. The light source is on the left (not that it matters much with this kind of image). Have a headache yet? I got a roaring one doing this, and it makes me dizzy to look at it now LOL. I hate to cover all that work with an image or a sentiment so thought I would just keep it like it is for now. Perhaps will change my mind later; we'll see. Maybe I will add a mini clear bling to all those tiny dots :)

Thank you very much for coming by.

Autumn Leaves Thank You

Hi again!

This card is much more normal compared to the last one! I just let the sentiment, surrounded by olive rhinestones, be the focal point. The pattern paper and bow is enough to complete the look. I sponged a bit of distress ink in Old Paper and also Walnut Stain. I'll be entering it into the StampTV challenge this week, and you can click HERE to go the challenge page.

The sentiment is from the stamp set "Harvest of Wishes" by Gina K. Designs. The pattern paper and cardstock are also by Gina K. Designs (She has T-H-E best cardstock for card bases). Rhinestones by Want2Scrap and grossgrain ribbon is stash.

Thank you for stopping by - I appreciate each and every comment!

Sad Me, Sad Owl

Hi there friends,

How is your day/week coming along? Good, I hope!

You know how you are happily going along working on a project and you don't stop when you should have? Well.... That's what happened here.

See, I just realized a dear friend of ours REALLY is moving away from Hawai'i (who does that LOL)? She and her hubby are moving to the Oregon coast, a place close to where we moved from to come here. Suddenly I felt the urge to hurry and make her a card, about how I really feel so sad inside about her moving away, and this is what came out!

At first the owl looked normal, and all. I added the little miss you flag, and then.... "IT" happened. I picked up the glitter pen and started adding a ton of tears, rolling out of her eyes, added the eye lashes, and I even made a teeny TINY handkerchief, with holes for lace, and little flowers in each corner. SOMEBODY STOP ME!

Anyway, it really was how I was feeling, with a pit in my stomach, as reality sinks in that she is moving away. Waaaaahhhhhh! Do you know how hard it is to keep a friend? They move, fade away, make new friends, and yada yada. I want to hang on to each precious one I have. But alas, life happens and we learn to accept the inevitable.

Talk about gumption, I am entering this monstrosity I mean card into the StampTV autumn challenge lol.  You can click HERE to see StampTV's challenge.

The front:

The inside:

(And just in case you are brave enough to look closer at the crying owl....)

Recipe:

Stamp Sets: Autumn Blessings and Sunkissed Autumn, both from Gina K. Designs
Inks: Memento both pads and markers; Stampin' Up ink pads; Sakura glitter pens
Bakers Twine
Cardstock by Gina K. Design, Pure Luxury White and In the Navy; Pale yellow by Bazzill
Flag: toothpick with ends cut off

Handkerchief: MY PRIDE AND JOY -- I cut a tiny square 3/4 inch, scored it into fourths, folded it, colored tiny sparkle flowers in each corner, punched three holes along the edges on each side. Then I folded it up to look like a hanky waving in the wind.

I used a scallop cut out from chipboard to sponge the sky like clouds. You can't see, but all the leaves and acorns are stamped with ink, then colored over in Sakura glitter pens of each similar color.

Thank you very much for looking, and if you read the whole page, KUDOS !!!!!!!

Fall Hills

Hi friends,

Is it fall where you live? We don't really get a fall, but by October or so we definitely feel a chill at nights and early in the mornings. The day time heat does not cook and melt me like the summer time does.

I tried a water color this time and wanted a threatening stormy fall day scene. It will be entered into the StampTV MIUM challenge hosted by Sean. It's very simple, just create a fall card :D

I used Koi Waterpaint kit
Strathmore 140# watercolor paper

Orange rhinestone and pop dots, Scor Tape

A brief visit to the beach

A couple of weeks ago, I asked Bruce if he would take me to the beach for a bit. I lasted 40 minutes. But it was long enough to breathe the wonderfully fresh ocean air, look back at the island and take a couple of pictures. This is what I saw and posted on Facebook:

From this spot, if you were to turn back towards the mountain (Mauna Loa), our home sweet home would be about 1,000 feet up, almost directly up from this beach. The drive is long as the highway must switchback and forth a few times because of the altitude. It takes about 20 minutes to get to this beach. In the mornings, we can see some of the ocean but our palm and banana trees have grown too tall for us to have a great view of the sea. But I'm not complaining!!!!

I decided to sponge a scene from memory using Memento inks and the little sponge daubers, and the palm tree stamps from one of Theresa Momber's sets. It's funny how we don't always remember exactly what we saw, but I tried to get a reasonably similar scene onto paper :)

I surrounded the image with gold metallic twine and glued black rhinestones to the corners. Must add coconuts to all the palm trees, covered them with Crystal Lacquer, and used white gel pen for waves and highlights. It's very sparkly because I got carried away with Wink of Stella (again). Those are teeny glass beads as sand and I used more Crystal Lacquer to hold them to the card. I hand wrote the location with a fountain pen, cut it out and sponged black around the edges. Adhesive foam behind the sentiment.

With much aloha - thank you for stopping by!!!!

Bruce brought home flowers for me!

Squeeee! After all these years, and it still gives me butterflies!

Here is a picture of the flowers, which looked way fuller with more lobelia the day he brought them home about 4 days ago. Guess I overwatered them?

I reached for the Koi watercolors and tried to capture a type of shape of this bowl of sweetness. I sketched it with regular pencil on Strathmore watercolor paper. I touched some of the centers with Liquid Pearls, added a twine bow and a few sequins.

Thank you so much for stopping by ♥

Silver Moon Ocean

I can't get enough of the ocean, or flowers, or animals :) But I do need to make a lot of ocean theme cards. This one is simple, black and white. I used water and Perfect Pearl (pearl) as a water paint and painted the moon through a negative die cut circle. I used the same Perfect pearls across the ocean for a silvery sheen on top of the blues of the ocean. White gel pen helped me make the waves. There are lots of aurora borealis color rhinestones, tiny rhinestones in the sky for stars, and rhinestone flourishes - lots of bling. I used some Crystal Lacquer on the palm branches for texture as well as on top of the breaking waves.

Thank you friends -- I appreciate you coming by!!!

Aqua Seas

It took a long time to get these next few cards completed.

First up is a colorful scene built on yellows and aquas, touches of purples and pinks, lots of pearls (hand colored each one as they used to be ivory), tiny rhinestones and Crystal Laquer for stars. I colored the tropical bird, covered it with VersaMark and heat embossed 3 coats of UTEE on it. Yes, you could probably use it as a pendant on a necklace, but I wanted to bring something special to the scene. It's flying over the beach.

Stamp Sets: "Aloha" and "Tropical Nature," both by Theresa Momber at Gink K. Designs
Inks by Memento; used sponge daubers to create the scene, and a negative from a label die cut to keep the scenery in.

I found an embossing folder that has the same shape as the die cut shape for the scene and it had embossing around the edges. I sanded the color off so you can see scroll work on the embossed layer.

I made the simple pin with pearls that is set into the triple bow. I cut and bent the end of the pin so that it won't poke anyone. Questions? Feel free to send them to me :)

This is a 5x7 card. The envelope took me all day to make. s-l-o-w.

3 coats of UTEE on the tropical bird, Crystal Lacquer on the boat, palm branches, coconuts.
Wink of Stella all over the ocean. Mini rhinestones as stars, and some more Crystal Laquer, too.

Thank you, dear friends, for coming over and taking a look!!
