The Spotlight Technique

It's a great week when you can muster up strength to play in two challenges!

Judy is hosting the challenge at Gina K. Designs MIUM Challenge I See Spots!

Stamped the iris image from Warm with Love by Theresa Momber, and the sentiment from Stately Flowers 8 by Melanie Muenchinger, using Memento blue for the faux stitching and the sentiment.

I used a few Copic Markers to color the spotlight image. Just stamp two identical images on white card stock. I colored one image with Copic markers. Then I took a 1-1/4 inch round paper punch and punched a portion of the colored image out. Next take a contrasting cardstock (purple) and punch a circle with a 2-1/2 inch punch.to form a frame around the spotlighted feature. For more dimension, I poured a round dome of 3D Crystal Lacquer over the top of the color image. I truly love this iris image and IT'S SPRING!!!!!

I took the little fern stamp from the Warm With Love set and made a background on yellow card using the Tuxedo blue marker as the ink to tie it in. Finished with three sequins in pale blue, deep blue and golden yellow.

Thank you dear ones, for taking the time to stop by
and leave me encouraging words
from your hearts.

Spring Blessings

We have countless blessings all year round, but springtime brings a renewal of growth and hope. We have lots of dragonflies here and this one has 3D Crystal Lacquer which makes all the wings look like glass.

Clear Wink of Stella coats the flowers and dots and Sakura glitter pens add to the sparkles in the centers of the dots. The dragonfly under the sentiment is embossed in gold. The rhinestones are sprinkled about and the red bow finishes the card. I stamped some flowers and leaves inside the card and am entering this into Gina's Stamp Release Challenge MARCH2015BK, Click on the link to see the cards entered into the challenge, making our own stamped backgrounds. Aloha for now ♥

Three Tropical Thank You Cards

Whooo. It's been a while since I've posted.

I made cards for friends that helped with a recent yard sale. Bruce gave one away before I could get a picture, but here are three more.

I do love emboss resist. These two cards use distress inks over either platinum or black embossing powders. I kept all three cards as simple as possible (for me) and added a bit of ink to the envelopes.

After distressing, I sprayed some shimmer made from plain water mixed with Perfect Pearls. It helps run the colors together and add some interesting dimension. I do love this technique. It's fast, simple, and colorful.

Stamps: SU Million and One; platinum embossing powder

Black embossing powder:

This last card is an image from Unity called Olivia Girl. I used some Copic markers and tried not to blend too much. Over the colors I used Sakura Glitter pen in clear as well as Prismacolor color pencils. There's more texture than I can show with the camera.

Thank you for not forgetting about me. My engine is running even slower
but I still get to the destination lol, just LOOOONG after
the rest of the crowd does ♥ Aloha ♥
