A Koala for Kaden

Dear friends,

I hope you are having or had a good day. Do you recall seeing a 60 minutes program about a young boy suffering from cancer who always wanted to go to Australia to see his favorite animal, the koala bear? His name is Kaden Erickson. Make a Wish program sent him, both his parents and his siblings to Australia. However, Kaden died this last September from the leukemia. I was just devastated to learn this on Sunday watching 60 minutes. Turning this feeling of helplessness into a card was all I could think of to do. If you would like to, please consider sending his family a card, too. Here is their address:

John and Jeanne Erickson
2716 Keystone Drive
Jonesboro AR 72401-8554

Stamp Image by Stampin' Up "Kind Koala"
Stamped in Memento London Fog and colored with Copic Markers
Pattern Paper by Basic Grey "Plumeria"

I also ran a strip of 1/8 inch double stick tape down the side of the image and sprinkled some clear crystal glitter on top, added some enamel dots in light and dark pink, pale pink Copic marker dots R20 around the image, and used Copic Warm Greys W1, W3, and W5 in a gradient light to dark on the left side, and covered it with Wink of Stella. WoS is also on the koala's nose and flower. Tied some silver sparkle thread twine and it's done, ready for mailing.

Thank you everyone for looking, for your sweet comments,
and if you choose to send them a card, "Thank you!"
With aloha ♥

A New Baby Niece

Aloha sweet friends,

I am back after compromising with Bruce about the foot. Instead of the ER, I called insurance and they said it would be fine to go to a local Urgent Care, that it was trauma ready. Yay! We drove in to town and they have no x-ray machine so we came home. That is a compromise in my book.

I finished the interior and the envelope for a card made earlier this week. My brother who is closing in on 65 just remarried a younger gal and they have a new baby. This card is for them. I have no idea how he does it but he was a real cutie in school and girls are always drawn to him, even now :-) We siblings have grandkids out of high school which is making our family tree more confusing to me as the years go by. Remember the song "I'm my own grandpa?" I'm hoping this doesn't happen.

The pink elephant and scalloped Circle are heart embossed with pink Embossing Powder. The flowers on the DP are accented with Crystal Lacquer.

I Roomba'd my Foot.

Aloha friends :)

We have a Roomba, one of the little robot vacuums. It works OH so good and it was Bruce's anniversary present to me (yes, I groveled and begged for one) a couple years ago.

I thought it could work while I address envelopes. So I picked him up from his park station and took him to the kitchen to begin. It dropped sideways and feels like it cracked my foot. In this world filled with disasters and serious health problems, this is nothing. Bruce is on his way home from work at Home Depot to help me since my foot is now elevated and ice cold. Cause this happened:

Bruce thinks I will cave and go to the local Emergency Room. This will be a battle of wills. I'm not putting the picture or post here for sympathy, cause it's just one more ding in the dings of life. It will be fine. The pain will be temporary. But please know I have not yet been able to mail your pretties out yet. I hope those of you who chose Simon Says Stamp gifts received an email notification of your certificate numbers. If not, please let me know -- I have an electronic receipt with your certificate numbers on them.

For my 2nd group of winners, I have not forgotten you! I just ask you for more time to get them addressed and mailed. I spent a few days after posting the last card just convalescing after making so many cards (mostly for 30 Day Coloring Challenge at Kathy Racoosin's web page).

After a few days of vegifying my brain and body I finally felt able to something and move again. Sigh. Ow. Sigh. Ow. I will not cry. And Roomba is doing his job dutifully throughout the house. He had a very soft landing. Me, not so much.

Love, Rosy #weakhands #roombaisheavy #anotherforcedbreak
