Embossed Sympathy Cards

Aloha friends,

I fell asleep while typing this last night, so...start over.

This is for Judy's challenge at StampTV, "Emboss is Boss!"

Each month I try really hard to send cards to others I read about or heard about on the news who could sure use some cheering up. I include a short letter to encourage them. Here are some of the latest:

Stamp Sets: GKD "Autumn Beauty" Theresa Momber, "Sympathy Duo," "You're My Favorite" and a butterfly I won in a goody bag from Gina ♥
Cardstock: GKD white, apple green and lemon drop
Embossing Folders: Darice Cherry Blossom and Grass Silhouette; Anna Griffin (lace trimmings group)

Corner Chomper 1/4"; Sharpie markers
Kool Tak Clear Adhesive Foam
Paper Accents Light White Vellum

VersaFine Black Ink; Clear Embossing Powder; Wink of Stella Clear
(My New FAV tool -- Signo Gel GOLD pen. It dries shiny and sparkly!)

Cherry Blossom EF --

Cattails and Grasses EF

Anna Griffin EF

And the insides all look like this:

I'm sorry but none of the Wink of Stella is showing up on the fronts of the cards. IRL these cards sparkle and shimmer like crazy :D

Thank you for visiting  -  I appreciate each of you ♥

Is it spring yet?

Hi friends,

I've been working on cards a little at a time, then took pictures last night. So it seems like I've been really busy, but have not - just doing a bit here and a bit there until each card was completed.

The first card uses the Stately Flowers 4 stamp set by Melanie Muenchinger for GKD. The salmon pink shimmer embossed layers are from Anna Griffin. She has such romantic colors and feminine creations that I simply LOVE :) It was a lot of fun and inspiration watching her on HSN this last Monday. Yup, I ordered some new products {sigh}.

The top left ribbon is an idea I saw on one of Anna Griffin's cards - she pulled ribbon down on both sides of the corner into the bow - had to CASE that part. Embossed image and sentiment in gold, colored with Copic markers. The rhinestones are a beautiful blush color IRL.

The next four cards are using Hula Riley which I think is really Sophie :D  The hula skirts are 3D, cut into thin shimmery slits and flared up a bit with my fingers. I painted the flowers and stems with Perfect Pearls and added Stickles whenever possible!

And finally a card made using the new StampTV kit by GKD. The stamp set is Warm Spring Wishes. I used white embossing powder, fussy cut the flowers and leaves out, tied some plain embroidery thread into a bow and added Sakura clear glitter pen to outline the embossed butterflies. I sprinkled some clear glitter around the pearl centers of the flowers. The inside of the card is the last picture for today.

The inside is stamped with Gina K. white pigment ink, clear glitter pen to highlight the flowers and butterfly.

Thank you very, very, VERY much for stopping by today!!!!

Vellum Garden

Hi Friends,

Yay, I broke in the vellum - there's cheering in the house! For Sean's Mod Squad Challenge.

I embossed a sheet with a floral embossing folder, then colored the back side or the 'de'bossed (indented) side with some Copic markers.

Here are a few things I learned today:

  • Use moderate colors (too light will not show up at all, too dark looks overwhelming)
  • If you make a boo boo with an alcohol marker, use regular rubbing alcohol on a q-tip or get out your blending pen to pull off the color easily
  • After much anxiety-producing research about how to adhere vellum to cardstock, I took a deep breath and used dabs of 3D Crystal Lacquer. I even added a thin line along the edges of the sheet - as you can see, you can barely see any of it although I did use larger dabs of it behind the centers of the flowers.
  • Adhesive pearls stick really well to vellum so I didn't add adhesive first like I usually do for extra holding power.
  • If your CAT should sit down on your vellum sentiment, be aware that YOU MAY NOT FIND IT AGAIN... (I'll add it some day if I find it)
If I learn anything else about vellum, I'll be sure to add. And here is the card - remember, it's my first time so don't expect advanced anything :D

Thank you dear ones for each and every sweet as honey comment ♥
