A Moon Baby

Aloha and surprise - I'm still here and trying to make cards!

Our nephew and his wife in Tennessee just had their second baby, a little girl. They were blessed with a little boy first. I like to tease people whenever and wherever possible, so I encourage them "the fun" doesn't really begin until after 5 or 6 kids, so keep on going!!!! And be sure to breast feed all of them, and use cloth diapers lol!!! Don't cheat and use disposables because of the landfills and such. Hah! They are bordering on loathing from hearing me anymore :D

I stamped the starry background onto the card base. Stamped Image with StazOn Black ink. Using watercolors, I swirled colors for a sky behind the focal image.Watercolor Moon and baby (I CASEd Lydia Fiedler on this part). Cut the dried panel with dies and then adhere to card. Cover the hanging star with Glossy Accents and cover the entire crescent moon with Wink of Stella clear. SHINY!!!

Dogwood Blossoms Anniversary

Still hot out, yes? Here, too - blah, I'm melting! I have visions of rolling in the snow without much on, let me tell you.

Susie is hosting a challenge on StampTV and it's a SKETCH! If you know me, you know that sketch challenges make me *shudder*!!! But I'm giving it the old college try and hope that you do, too!!!

Here is the sketch:

This is an anniversary card for friends in BC, Canada. I looked up their "flower" for the province, and it is dogwood blossoms primarily, but some people also want the rhododendron as their flower. I put dogwoods on the front and a fuchsia color rhodie inside the card. I need to make a bigger envelope for this extended type of topper card (can't remember what these are called). 

Using both sizes of butterflies and the mini dogwood blossom from the stamp set,, I stamped the background of the base card. Looking back, I wish I would have used 120# GKD cardstock for the image because the gold cord is causing bumps on the 80# Neenah layer :/ (Me no happy. Might just tear it off and do over.)

The dogwood blossoms are first colored with Prismacolor pencils, then gamsol, then a little deeper color of greens using Copic markers. I covered the centers with dollops of Glossy Accents but don't like how that turned out either. So I tried adding Perfect Pearls in Opal. Wiped that off but left a kind of sheen. (Yup, probably will tear off and do over). To help "cover" all the boo boos, I painted on a thin coat of Mod Podge over the leaves, then sprinkled a bit of glitter into the centers. (Definitely going to tear off and do over). But the picture feels good enough in this heat to upload into the STV gallery, whew! This is reality cardmaking people!

Dance of the Butterflies

AlOha!!!

Did you think I might be able to play along with the STV weekly challenge? Cause I was sure wondering that myself. You see, Mr. Migraine has come back and brought some old friends, tonsillitis, sore throat, aching teeth and eyeball. But color me Super Woman, hunched over and with a cane. I can STILL COLOR!!! Take THAT Mr. Migraine.

Each day is precious. Today I was able to be the listening ear to three friends online as they cope with serious and sometimes tragic challenges. It feels good to let them pour their hearts out, just quietly listening. And afterward, I felt like perhaps I accomplished something special just by being here, on my electronic devices, willing to listen. Remember when we would go to each other's homes or meet for coffee and just talk? Times have changed. Now we have electronic devices. Seldom do I get a phone call, which is great for me because calls where me out faster than going to the mailbox. But a long time ago, getting together as friends was far more intimate and rewarding that this internet thing.

The challenge this week at StampTV is to Color Color Color!
