Hibiscus Card Set

Aloha dear friends,

I wanted to complete a little project today for some visiting friends. It's a set of 10 hibiscus cards with envelopes using the Emboss Resist method which I just love to do. I used Gina's same technique as before so I will be entering it into the current Product Release Challenge which is located HERE. I hope you will play along with us! I ordered several of the new stamp sets including the new kit - it's so stinkin' cute I just couldn't help it.

If you saw yesterday's post, well, this is pretty much the same technique. Someone on Facebook asked me how to do it. Here is the link to Gina's video showing how she did it: Emboss Resist Using Softer Shades of Color. Be sure to enter your creation into the challenge using the tag RELEASE0417.

I was in a hurry to get this done today before our friends left. Therefore, no sentiment on the front :( However, there is either a sea shell or a butterfly stamped inside each card matching the color on the front, as well as a rotation of images on the envelopes in the same colors as each card. I hope the pictures don't bore you to tears. I had tears only because my femur is just killing me today along with my back. But hey, whatever it takes and I got'er done! So thank you for looking my friends!

Products Used --
Stamp Sets: "Gifts from the Sea" and "Stately Flowers 4," both by Melanie Muenchinger for Gina K. Designs
Cardstock: GKD 120# white cardbase; Neenah Solar White 80# for the curved front layer
Inks: Distress Inks for coloring;Hibiscus are stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed using GKD White embossing powder.
Embossing Folder "Preserves" by Cuttlebug (comes in a set of four - I don't know if these are cherries or what, but the one looks like pears and so on)
Die: "Curved Edge" by Simon Says Stamp

I wanted these as flat as possible for ease of mailing. I forgot to include a book of stamps - my bad. But this was a last minute gift. I started late last night and finished up this morning. For me this is speed of light lol.

Pheasant, Thinking of You

This is a card for a dear friend's husband who is up against serious illness. I didn't know what kind of a card to make other than it being masculine.

I used Stampin' Up "Walk In the Wild" pheasant image, and some B and B tree stamps. I cut out a mask for the mountains, then sponged Memento inks for the sky, mountains, land. I drew in some grass and highlights with Memento markers. There is a faint touch of Wink of Stella on the pheasant neck and breast for iridescence. Inside says "Thinking of You" part of the same Stampin' Up set, with a larger fir tree stamped in Cocoa Brown. The envelope has oak leaves and acorns, the back has faint pine trees as a small forest.

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking a look! With aloha ♥

Mountains at Dusk

You can probably tell I've been in the mood for creating skies and scenery {sigh} -- so beautiful to look around or remember different places we've been!

First I sponged pinks, blues and purples, then used Memento gray to stamp different parts of stamps sets to get the scene. I added lots of craggy shadows to the mountain and a few more pine trees using Copic grays.

Really did mess up the border of the scene, so I hid it! I cut a square aperture in the card, adhered the scene from the back to cover the boo boos, then cut a frame from gold shimmer cardstock. Embossed some gold for some plant life in one corner, and for the sentiment. I just touched the edges of Delicata gold to the sentiment die cut - sure does sparkle like embossing!

Finally, added a white with gold thread bow to another corner and adhered cardstock to cover the image inside the front flap of the card.

Entering into StampTV Mix it up Monday Challenge. Just add some heat embossing and enter the challenge!

Stamp Sets: Mountain Wilderness and Country Roads, both by Theresa Momber and available at Gina K. Designs. Cardstock and ribbon also from GKD.

It's a Mossy Morning

I'm sure Asela Hopkins designed this beautiful set of bird stamps (Winter Wings at GKD) with snow in mind. But I miss moss! Living in the Pacific Northwest meant walking among mossy laden trees, stones and ground over centuries of fallen trees and pine needles. Mmmmm - smell the pine and cedar? So instead of coloring the branch with snow, I used some Copic greens for moss.

I heat embossed a floral from Summer Blooms stamp set (also from GKD) in clear embossing powder, then sponged green inks gently around to pop them. There's a bit of pointillism on the bird because I over-colored him and had to fix it up somehow. Then I fussy cut the bird and branch and popped it up on 1/4 inch pop dots for depth.

The background was a plain tan Bazzill but I stamped it twice: first with VersaMark Dazzle and then with a dark brown ink using Irish Blessing from Stampin' Up. Using a darker ink around the edges of the panel gave it a bit of age and distress.

Tied a gold oak leaf with twine to the bottom and then took a leap of faith to emboss the edges with a SB die. It really does work without cutting through the cardstock - whew!

Entered into the Mix it up Monday at StampTV with Carolina   All you have to do is emboss something to enter and you could win some brand new stamps from Gina!

Snowy Mountains and Shooting Star

For a dear friend whose spouse recently past away. We pray he will endure losing her - they were married for many many years.

To make this card I just tore paper and used the edge while sponging Memento inks to make the sky and mountains. Used Stickles for a shooting star, white gel pen to highlight stamped tree, and to make the Northern Star. Tree stamp by Inkadinkado and sentiment by Gina K. Designs, Elegant Florals. Cardstock Gina K. Pure Luxury white 120# and Navy for the layering.

Next week is our 19th anniversary - our love has carried us through both the easy and joyous times as well as the difficult and sometimes scary times with health challenges.

Here is the card I made yesterday for my DH. The stamp set is by Theresa Momber, "Farm Days." I'm so glad it turned out to look like the last place we lived in the high desert of central Oregon. We could see the Cascade Mountains from out home, and watch the sun go down behind them most nights. Theresa Momber has amazing tutorials and videos showing how to sponge backgrounds, so I lifted the technique from her (thanks Theresa).

I fussy cut out the barn with trees, and popped them on adhesive foam, along with the sentiments. I carried the theme on through to the inside of the card, as well. All cardstock and brads are from GinaK Designs at StampTV. She has THE best cardstock to stamp, color and sponge on !!! Inks - I stamped with Memento and sponged with Tsukineko.

Thanks for stopping by - I appreciate all my friends and visitors!! Hugs, Rosy
