Friendship

Aloha dear friends!

How is your day? Are you slowing down buying more pattern paper nowadays? Are you using as much as say, a couple of years ago? Or are you trying to to buy less (like I am) until you use up most of your current stash?  ♥

One of my sweet nurse friends is going through a very, very rough patch of life right now. I hope this card will remind her of how much I care. We used to work together in the local hospital and she was always so sweet, optimistic, cheerful and conscientious as a nurse - a delight to work with!!! She is also native to Hawai'i and I love the connection to the real local people here.

Instead of using markers for this card, I used Prismacolor Pencils and the blender pencil that comes with it. Yesterday I watched a Sandy Allnock Video - Vanishing Point in which she shows how to draw a tile floor with angles the way it would really look. Just pick a central point at the top of your card, then using a ruler, draw vertical angled lines to depict the tiles on the floor.

I cut the floor with the little nurse out, even the teeny space under the nursing bag handle lol. Using a black Memento marker I shaded the edges of the cut out image. Then I adhered it to some pattern paper. I was all finished with the button and flower until yup - I smudged the ink around the sentiment and had to add some sequins. Oh well. Bruce likes it :D  Since my buddy lives not too far from us, Bruce said he would drop it by for me. What a man!

Stamp Set: My Favorite Things: "Best Medicine" (from the Pure Innocence line)

for taking the time to look & comment!!!

  3. I'm afraid more paper keeps popping into my cart, even though I am *trying* to use up my stash! I still have a bunch of GKD to use up. Love your card, Rosy, and your tile floor turned out perfectly (I watched that video, too). I'm amazed you were able to cut that little tiny bit out under the handle!! Yikes. Adorable nurse--great colouring. Your friend is sure to be lifted up by your card! How's the watercolour class coming?

  4. I really like this card. That tiled floor looks awesome, as does your coloring! You're such a thoughtful person, Rosy. I'm sure your friend will appreciate you thinking of her. And yes, I have LOTS of patterned paper--too much! But I keep getting whatever GKD comes out with. Can't stand NOT to have it. Bad for the wallet.

  7. I only buy patterend paper if it really catches my eye and I have to have it. Lvoe your card for a special friend. I have a nurse friend that is going through a bad year with cancer treatment. I have been sending her a card every week for almost a year. Thanks for the reminder that I could make it more personal, just as you have. You card is adorable and I am sure will be cherished by your friend.

  8. I love patterned paper. I bought many packs of Avery Elle last year and since then I have seen more. Your nurse is special for a special lady, I am sure.

  9. Love it Rosy, and that is why started making cards, so they were for the person instead of just buying what could be found.
    This is perfect.
    Hugs.

  10. Such a sweet card, your friend will appreciate it so much. Sometimes I forget that cards are for sending, not just making. I love your design and coloring. And yes, I'm trying to cut down on my patterned paper stash. It's gotten out of control!! Whenever I'm in a store where they have it, I say to myself, "Step away from the paper, Judy!!!" And that's no kidding. All my friends and my sister laugh at me because of it. I'm like a patterned paper magnet...lol.
