Let it Snow (in Hawai'i) -- Faux Windows

Well, it's that hot and humid time here where the sane locals head for Alaska and Canada, Australia and Argentina - anything to get out of this sauna. But me? Well, my sanity is probably questionable for I stay put. So here is a pretty chilly scene I made yesterday for a challenge at StampTV, a winter card.

Technique:

I brayered blues onto glossy paper, then it blew up when I used my heat tool on it. So I tried it again on cardstock - nice :D Then I embossed white over a few stamped trees (in VersaMark), and used my favorite glitter (prisma by Hero Arts) in the corners, on the trees and as snow. Ahhh, now I can cool off. Brrr.

Pink Flamingos- Are They Tacky?

See? Not so tacky after all :) Thanks for looking! Rosy

Every day is a vacation in Hawai'i

Walking along the beach, surfboard in hand.... could be a local person, could be a tourist - both on "vacation." ahhhh.

Stamp Set by Theresa Momber -- Aloha, available at Gina K. Designs
CASE'd card technique, Sponging, by Theresa Momber

(sorry it's blurry!)
I used sponges and Memento inks. Thank you so much for stopping by to look! with aloha, rosy

Hula time!

Marci (LaLaLand stamps) went to the beach today! She just had to get up and wiggle her hips for the tourists :* She made them smile, but one guy ran his bike into a lamp post...

Technique:

I used Copics to color but left white space for reflection from the sunshine (then forgot to put her shadow...oops). Liquid Pearls in Red for all of the flower centers, on her lei, and on her ankle flowers. They are on the margins, too. I painted the sky and sand with shimmering chalks and water brush.

Thank you for stopping by!!! Aloha ~ rosy

My DH with me at the Beach

I decided to get a new hat and take a picture of my dear husband and myself at the beach - like it? I think we got the best shot we could. (LaLaLand stamps!

Technique:

Layer the cardstock, cut two Spellbinder label dies and layer them, stamp the image and have fun coloring with Copic markers. Hand cut the pennant sentiment and stamped in two colors :)

Thank you for looking!

A deer in snow

I don't miss the snow, the cold, biting winds, breaking the ice off the car doors and windshields, high heating bills, or wood chips from the back door to the wood stove.... or icy roads. But I do love pretty snow scenes in art!

This is a Hanko arts Kodomo Zigen stamp that I love. There are all kinds of ways to 3D this and double stamp parts for toling, but I am not feeling well enough right now to do that. So 2 nights ago when I couldn't sleep, I worked on cards in bed :D

Do you love sparkles, Stickles, glitter of all kinds? Me, too!

Technique:

I used Memento London Fog ink to stamp a mountain background, snow banks, and mist here and there. Colored the deer, leaves, rocks and snow with Prismacolor Pencils, and blended with Gamsol. Stickles diamonds to the water, snow, leaves and bamboo.

Thank you so much for looking!!!

Hawai'i!!!

Hawai'i....we hope everyone gets to experience 'aloha.'

This was way easier than it probably looks. I didn't spend much time coloring either, but used two Copics and a Memento marker for each flower. The Mementos have a super sharp point on one end which created the tiny thin lines in each flower. I have Copic Ciaos so it was hard to get that thin of a line with those.

Flower Technique:

Stamp and color the flowers. (see above) It was easy to cut the flowers out, cut down between each petal, then curled back on a pen :D Then I used a finger to spread Stickles diamond all over each flower. The butterflies and the sentiment are completely done with Clear Embossing Powder (you can't see but the square sentiment really looks like it is glass).

Use your favorite corner paper punch, add some crystals, ribbon, pop dot the sentiment & flowers.

A Tole Paper Rose

The Tole Paper Rose ~

This is another stamp by Melanie Muenchinger from the stamp set A Year of Flowers (also available at GinaK Designs).

I lifted the technique from her book of the same title, page 29 - thanks Melanie!

Technique:

Just stamp and color two of the same flowers. Adhere one flower to the card. Then cut the second flower into each petal. Place them on the table in the shape it was in (to help you remember where it was).

Tricky Part:
You will use between one-three adhesive dots on top of one another to get differing heights for the cut petals. This makes the flower 3D.

Look at the card with the flower on it. Do you see which petals would be farthest from you and which ones would be closer to you in real life? The farthest petals, I leave alone. I don't put a second cut petal on it. Then, building the flower higher as each petal gets closer to me, that's how many foam dots I put under the cut petals. The ones towards the mid bottom have three foam dots under them! You can't tell because the picture is flat.

When I was done, I took a Memento Marker in Lady Bug Red and colored the sides of each and every adhesive foam dot. That way, if someone turned the card sideways, none of the white would show from the pop dots. Then I used my fingers and bent the petals backwards so there is a lot of dimension in the flower!

Thank you for stopping by - with hugs, Rosy
