Space Monkey

Aloha, friends!

We have friends whose daughter & hubby had a baby! They decorated his room with monkeys and space lol! Sweet, huh? I had to make a card, so here is a monkey in space!

I saw the Cheeky Monkeys come on sale at Clearly Besotted. Other monkey images just didn't seem to do the trick. Once these arrived, voila! To make a helmet for the little guy, just draw a simple circle around his head and fill it in with Glossy Accents or something similar. I put the monkey on an Action Wobbler for some fun! He is standing on a sketched out weird semi circle for the moon.

This was about the sixth try to make a galaxy background. The distress oxides just looked too chalky for me. The dye inks lacked the pow factor. I kept trying with regular distress inks and the card is finally finished.

The new mom and dad also picked blues and greens for his room and that is why the front of the card has a green layer and the inside has a blue one. Whew. Diamond stars are all over the envelope and white base of the card. Throw a bunch of clear crystals and call it done!

Stamp Set: "Cheeky Monkeys" by Clearly Besotted; Starry background by Hero Arts

Clear Embossing Powder (stars on card layer and envelope)

Turtle Day!

Aloha! Yes, I made that up. I have no idea if there is a turtle day... but my card is about turtles!

Another week went by! How does time keep getting faster? I remember how badly I wanted to turn 18. That seemed to take FOREVER. Then I wanted to be 21. That took a long time, too. After that? Time flew by faster than a spring melt over a waterfall. And each decade the water falls even faster :(

I'm a turtle. Even a slower turtle with each passing day, week, year. However, our daughter in law loves loves loves sea turtles so this is a Thinking of You card for her. She has re-entered the work force as a teacher again since our youngest grandchild is in elementary school!

The main image is inside the card with a peek a boo circle on the front. The background (inside) is just a bit of sponged Tumbled Glass distress ink and a hint of Broken China ink. Using a Heidi Swapp heart stencil, I sponged some GKD white as well as Broken China distress ink through to make light and dark heart bubbles lol!!!

The turtles are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then are colored them with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. Fussy cut and glue to ocean background. I stamped the starfish and corals with pink and gray Memento inks and used pencils and Memento markers to color them, using Sakura Clear Star gel pen to highlight all the bubbles and sand and sea weed.

Using the Pear Tart Memento marker, just sketch in sea weed. Color with Memento New Sprout and Bamboo markers. Brush Wink of Stella over the images, adding 3D crystal lacquer to the turtle shells which makes them mega glossy and glass-like, and call it done :D
