True Friend

I think this image is so beautiful! If I wasn't so afraid to be around horses. When I was a teen, I used to ride a lot at summer camp in Washington state. One morning I got thrown off and knocked out when my head hit a rock. Good thing a friend was riding with me, and she waited for me to come out of it, then helped me get back to camp with the horses.
Another time I was riding in Riverside, California with another friend. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw something in the distance move. Boy, did my horse see it to. It was a pack of wild dogs way off in the distance on a hill but they were running. My horse reared up and jumped up and down and I fell off the back, smacking my elbow on a rock and landing on my neck! I thought my arm was broken as it went numb and couldn't move it. My girlfriend who owned the horses and went riding with me had to chase down my horse while I laid down and waited. Went to the ER and nothing broken just banged up good.
There have been other horse rides in which I've been stepped on, had the horse head swing into my head which caused me to see stars, and more horses bucking me off, even a pregnant and one eyed horse. She tripped in a ditch and I flew over her head. I took that as time to stop riding horses.

But I still think they're such beautiful creatures :)

  1. Rosy I just love your card. I think you did an excellent job. I have yet to use Gamsol...did you find it easy to work with? I also love your stick pin. I really need practice on those. I'm surprised at your story, you are much braver than I would be. I think after one bad experience I would not have tried getting on a horse again.

    1. Hi, Marianne! Thanks for stopping by!!! Yes, Gamsol is a very forgiving product and allows you to achieve an almost watercolor or creamy pastel texture. I love it. Learned it from watching Gina K videos!!!! Thanks again <3

  2. What a gorgeous card...lovely image and I like it in the softer shades. And love the lovely diecut frame for the image. Working with Prismacolors and Gamsol is such a fun way to add color to images. Sometimes I think it is more forgiving then a marker, especially if you make a mistake. Anyway, so glad you sent me to your blog to check it out. I, too, love horses but have had very little experience with them. I rode on a couple old nags when a kid that the cousin had. We didn't have any of our own, or not the kind that could be ridden. We did have a team of horses which hauled the hay wagon and other types of trailer type things. But they were working horses and not the riding kind.

  3. Beautiful card, Rosy! I'm going to have to pull out my colored pencils and gamsol again. I haven't used them in a while. Unlike you, I have never been on a horse in my life. I do think they are beautiful animals, though. I've seen pictures of people riding horses on the beach, and thought that would be a lot of fun, but so far, it hasn't happened. lol Have a great day!

  5. Hi Rosy, what a lovely card, I have never heard of gamsol, so I don't know what to do with it. Think I will go onto Gina K to have a look at it. I like popping into your blog to see what other lovely creations that you have came up with. Hugs, Jen x
