Snowflake Kisses from Hawai'i

Aloha everyone,

We do get snow here in Hawai'i, at least on this island. We have two mountains that are almost 14,000 feet. Two nights ago the winds were up to and over 90 mph up there, blowing snow and roads closed. Down here (1400 feet) it's chilly at nights and especially early in the mornings as the wind blows over that snow and down the slopes into our house. Ok, it only gets to the low 60s but the wind chill must be in the mid 50s, right? It warms up to the upper 70s to mid 80s during our winter days so our temps vary in a 24 hr period and we need goose down comforters, sweaters and socks. I'm sure you feel sorry for us LOL.

During the break I took from blogging and Facebook I continued to color. It rejuvenated me inside to make cards for as many as I could. Here is a sampling as no two were identical.

Stamp Sets: Sweet 'n Sassy "Winter Girls," "Snowflake Flourish," and "Snow Glad We're Friends (snowman card)

Cardstock and paper: GKD Pure Luxury White 120# for card bases, Bazzill and Stampin' Up for color layers, GKD pattern papers, Neenah Solar White for die cut snowflakes, Recycled Metallic Chipboard from packaging material for metallic snowflakes

Inks: Memento various colors, Brilliance Silver, SU various colors, VersaMark and Ranger Platinum Embossing Powder (sentiments), Copic markers (all the coloring)

Embellishments: Cheery Lynn Snowflake Dies Snowflakes #2, #3, Martha Stewart snowflake punches, Various Spellbinder Label and Tag dies, Crop-a-dile Corner Rounder, SU Dazzling Diamond glitter, Liquid Applique (ear muffs and fur trims), SU snow burst embossing folder, Sizzix big dot embossing folder, Cuttlebug Divine Swirls embossing folder, Silver metal snowflake brads by Creative Impression, Color epoxy round stickers, ribbons and lace trim, rhinestones, pearls, holographic twine

Other: UTEE, Scor Tape, Glue dots, Tombow tape runner, Aileen's Clear Glue, 3D Crystal Lacquer, Diamond Stickles, Signo White gel pen (and probably some other things I can't remember right now).

I made 20 different cards and tried to enclose a pink and a blue UTEE snowflake inside each. The insides of the cards are stamped and decorated. The envelopes are stamped and lined with pattern paper that was edged with Marta Stewart doily edge punch.

Thank you for stopping by and appreciate your comments ♥
Snowflake kisses!

  1. It was sure wonderful to be on the recipient end of such a wonderful card and gift. Loved looking at the variety of ones you made. HUGS to you and thanks again!

  2. I'm snow glad we're friends, too ;) --and so honoured to be among the recipients of one of these gorgeously-coloured cards! You put so much love, care and attention to detail in all of your cards, Rosy, that I can't help but feel your love! I I'm intrigued by the intricate snowflakes, too, and wonder just how you made them..? My Hawaiian snowflakes will be treasured keepsakes. Such a thoughtful person, you are, and beautiful inside and out!

  3. your cards are all so wonderful and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for my card and snowflakes. I certainly will be hanging those on my tree next year. I only have homemade ornaments on it. And, my daughter was looking for some ideas but she found her snowflakes all done at Hobby Lobby. I thought maybe I would be generating lots of them for her but not sure I could get them as beautiful as yours are.

  4. Loved your cards Rosy! Those images are adorable and those snowflakes of yours are just beautiful!

  5. I do agree that crafting can be therapeutic, and you have certainly made some gorgeous cards. So glad that you shared them with us. Good to have you back and to see how busy you were. The snowflakes really stand out, I thought at first, that they were crocheted. They are so delicate and just amazing. I wonder how you can made snowy cards when you live in a beautiful sunshine place. I guess it is the artist in you.

  6. Even prettier in person.....if that's possible!!! <3

  7. Oh, I spotted my card right away. And you are right, coloring AND sending are very therapeutic. I can see that you were very busy. And what a lovely treat for all of us who were the recipients of your wonderful creations!!! So interesting about the snow and blowing wind - I had no idea that your state ever had inclimate weather. What a surprise! So glad to see you back blogging again. We missed you!!!

  8. Beautiful group of cards Rosy, Glad you had a good time colouring them, and would love to send you some of the cold and snowflakes from here. Hugz

  11. Hi Rosy, It's been a while since I had a chance to pop in for a visit, and oh what a wealth of lovely cards to enjoy. (I saw your comment over on Marcella's Power Play tutorial done by Tosh so it was quick & easy to click the link and zip in). You were very productive on your blog break so yay for you. You've created some real eye-poppin' stunners - with so many lovely designs and festive colors. Hope you are doing well, and TFS such creative talent. Hugs
